Welcome to Just for the Kids – California. This website is designed to provide involved parents, like you, with information and resources to help improve California’s public schools. Parents are important partners in the education process. Research indicates that involved parents impact not only their own child’s achievement, but help the entire school stay focused on improvement and performance. The JFTK-CA website gives parents a unique and unbiased look at how public schools are performing, which schools are excelling, and how to recreate this excellence in other schools.

How does JFTK-CA do this? The reports collect and analyze the California Standards Test achievement data and present it in an easy to understand format. Every school in the state is measured and compared to schools with similar student populations. Using this information, parents can fairly evaluate how schools are performing in their community.

JFTK-CA uses this data analysis to identify schools that consistently demonstrate high performance. Once identified, a team of researchers studies the “Best Practices” of these high performing schools. These findings and additional resources are available through both this national Just for the Kids website, along with our California specific JFTK-CA site.
