Education and business leaders that represent the entire State of California support Just for the Kids-California (JFTK-CA). Bank of America Foundation, AT&T; Foundation, Washington Mutual Foundation, State Farm Insurance, Enterprise Rent A Car, Auto Club of Southern California, United Way of the Bay Area and The San Francisco Foundation provide additional support to improve public education throughout the state.

By working in close coordination with statewide groups and organizations including the California Business for Education Excellence Foundation, California State University and the California Chamber of Commerce, these leaders help to guide local efforts that are aligned to a comprehensive, statewide plan to raise student achievement and close achievement gaps in California public schools.

JFTK-CA serves as a critical component of the local education initiatives of chambers of commerce and business councils. In turn, these local business organizations promote the importance of accurate, fair data to measure school performance and assist in the recruitment of local districts to utilize JFTK-CA as a tool for raising student achievement. These include the Bay Area Council, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and the Fresno Business Council.

Here are some ways in which businesses can use JFTK-CA to raise student achievement and close achievement gaps.

  • Go to www.cbee.org and read the comprehensive plan called Closing Achievement Gaps: The Next Phase in Improving California’s Public Schools.
  • Promote Just for the Kids — California (JFTK-CA) school improvement system as a solution for schools to raise student achievement and for businesses and policymakers to take a proactive role in preparing the future workforce.
  • Use JFTK-CA to help your employees better understand the performance and potential of their local schools and to measure corporate investments and philanthropy as to whether they are making a difference in raising achievement.
  • Build local business-education partnerships around JFTK-CA data and best practices.
